"Famous Writings Collections" - Part 26 compiled by Shri. Gopalkrishna Vaidyanathan Iyer (G.V. Iyer)
1) Humility is a good thing, but over-humility is near to crookedness; silence is a virtue, but undue silence bespeaks a deceitful mind.
Meaning: Being humble within a limit is always good but beyond the limit, it leads to dishonesty in the long run. Similarly, knowing to stay silent is a good thing but being silent more than required can lead to the creation of a dishonest mind.
2) Seasons may come and seasons may go. Everything withers in due course, you know. But there is one thing that blooms as fresh as the dew. That is the love and affection I still have for you.
Meaning: There are several seasons that keep changing throughout the year. But all the different times won't change the impact of my love for you.
3) Yesterday is a cancelled cheque, you can't cash it.
Tomorrow is a promissory note, don't rely on it.
Today is ready cash, spend it wisely.
Meaning: What happened yesterday cannot be changed. We cannot anticipate what can happen tomorrow. However, the present time is what you have now, so know to use it wisely.
