"Famous Writings Collections" - Part 8 compiled by Shri. Gopalkrishna Vaidyanathan Iyer (G.V. Iyer)
1) Darkness becomes a kind of symbol of the spirit of evil, unpenetrable, unpredictable, linked with horror.
Meaning: The more one lives in the darkness of ignorance, the more one's personality becomes a mess controlled by wicked thoughts and negative energies.
2) Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed, not defeated.
Meaning: A person is created by the Supreme Power so that one day he can reach the death stage. But he or she is not a loser even if they die because their memories and good work remain with people.
3) Personal beauty is a greater recommendation than any letter of introduction.
Meaning: A letter of introduction by an influential person may increase the chances of getting a job. However, if a person is quite assertive and confident of his skills and knowledge, aware of his personal strengths, he will have a higher chance than the recommendation letter to get the job.
4) It is not enough that you get a job. You have got to make sure that you get the kind of job that is suited to your temperament. Do not be carried away by false notions of prestige.
Meaning: We think getting a job is sufficient to make a living. But that's not the case, one must get the right job that understands their strengths, weaknesses, and personality so that he achieves job satisfaction. Higher-ranking posts don't always guarantee job satisfaction.
5) Without a rich heart, wealth is an ugly poor beggar.
Meaning: If a rich person doesn't have the willingness to share his wealth then he is also wealthily poor.
