Tomato Rasam is a salt soup that can be mixed with rice and eaten for lunch or dinner. Tomato Rasam can also be consumed as a breakfast or snack soup. This recipe serves 2 persons.
Ingredients Required:
1) Tomatoes
2) Dal (Moong or Toor)
3) Lime
4) Hing
5) Rasam Powder
6) Pepper powder
7) Jeera powder
8) Haldi
9) Salt
10) Tamarind if required
Preparation Steps:
Cook Dal in cooker 4 to 6 whistles.
In a vessel, put 2 cut tomatoes and let the rasam boil along with one spoon each of Haldi and Salt.
Take one ball of tamarind and extract water from it and keep it.
After some time, add the extracted water and let the rasam boil.
Add one spoon of Rasam powder, jeera, and pepper powder half a spoon each, and also little hing. Let the rasam boil.
Add the required quantity of water.
Also, add the cooked dal by mashing it and put it in the rasam.
Put coriander leaves also while boiling. Add 2 spoons of lime water if required.
Remove the rasam from the cooking gas once you see the rasam has boiled well.
In a kadai, put rai and methi seeds for kadka in ghee or oil and add to the rasam.
