"Famous Writings Collections" - Part 5 compiled by Shri. Gopalkrishna Vaidyanathan Iyer (G.V. Iyer)
1) Conversation: A conversation is a form of communication in which some men never stop to think and many women never think to stop.
Meaning: When some men communicate, they think more about the discussion. When many women communicate, they keep the discussions going and put an end to their thinking.
2) Death: If the rich could hire other people to die for them, the poor could make a wonderful living.
Meaning: One impossible thing for rich people is that they cannot have poor people die in their place. If that was also possible, then the poor people would have willingly died and upgraded their family's living standards.
3) Better to die of a good company than of slow diseases and doctor's doses.
Meaning: Heading towards death is a better journey with good friends and relatives rather than taking medicines for treating slow diseases that makes us live longer with no good company.
4) Drinking: He who goes forth with a fifth on the fourth may not come forth on the fifth.
Meaning: Drinking alcohol is such an addictive habit that makes a person clueless about his count of glasses.
5) A friend in need is a friend indeed.
Meaning: A friend who comes to help during crisis times is the greatest friend.
